The Annual General Body of the\u00a0Malankara<\/em>\u00a0Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Mar Thoma Sabha Pratinidhi Mandalam was convened at Tiruvalla Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Smaraka Auditorium from August 28 to August 30, 2018. The meeting began with the worship led by Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan and the Episcopas of the Church. Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan, Rt. Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Rt Rev. Euyakim Mar Coorilos, Rt Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas, Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Timotheos, Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Paulos Episcopa, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Makarios, Rt. Rev. Gregorios Mar Stephanos, Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Theethos Episcopas, Sabha Secretary – Rev. K.G.Joseph, Clergy Trustee – Rev. Thomas C. Alexander, Lay Trustee and Treasurer – Mr. P.P. Achankunju, Sabha Council Members, Appointed Clergy, Representatives from Parishes and Institutions, Nominated Members were present at the meeting.
\nRev. Dr. Y.T. Vinayaraj, Professor of Theology at the Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, Kottayam, led the opening Bible Study and Meditation. Achen through the Bible Study based of St. Matthew. 16:13-20, explained the role of the Church to be the corrective agent in the midst of the evil forces of this day.
\nSabha Secretary welcomed all the members to the function. The Mandalam expressed its deepest condolences in the demise of Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasius Suffragan Metropolitan and other eminent persons.
\nMetropolitan in the\u00a0Presidential address<\/a>\u00a0exhorted our role to be the Christian Presence in midst of all tribulations.
\nSabha Secretary presented the Annual Report and Accounts 2017-2018 of Sabha and the Mandalam passed the Annual Report and Accounts after discussion.
\nOn the Second day, Holy Communion was held at Tiruvalla St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church led by Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa. Farewell was given to 19 Clergy viz: Rev. Y. George, Rev. T.V. George, Rev. G. Varughese, Rev. Mathews Mathunny, Rev. Dr. P.G. George, Rev. A.M. John, Rev. George Mathew, Rev. Kurian George, Rev. Sunny George, Rev. K.C. Varghese, Rev. Mathai Joseph, Rev. P.E. Mathew, Rev. M.C. Skaria, Rev. T.K. Varughese, Rev. George Varghese, Rev. George Thomas, Rev. Thomas Philips, Rev. Jolly Thomas, Rev. T.S. Thomas,\u00a0 who retired from the active service of the Church.

    Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa presented the report of regarding the implementation of COMPE constitution in the parishes of UK – Europe zone of North America \u2013 Europe Diocese.<\/p>\n

    Adv. Oommen Thomas presented and Mandalam passed the MOA of Marthoma Navodaya Movement Society, incorporated as the society to work among the transgender community \u2013 the project initiated by Mar Thoma Church to mark the Birth Centenary of Padma Bhushan Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan.<\/p>\n

    Rev. P.J. Mamachen, Convenor of Study Book Committee presented the Book with theme:\u00a0Christian Discipleship: Vision and Challenges in a Changing World<\/em>.<\/p>\n

    The meeting had a fruitful discussion on the recent deluge that hit Kerala State and resolved to devise an action plan to aid the people who are most affected.<\/p>\n

    Rev. Mathew P. Thomas,\u00a0Rev. C.V. Symon and Adv. Oommen Thomas served as recording secretaries.<\/p>\n

    Sabha Secretary recorded vote of thanks.<\/p>\n

    The meeting came to a close with the prayer by Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas and the Benediction of His Grace the Metropolitan.<\/p>\n
