The Missionary activity of the Mar Thoma Church in the southern region of Karnataka State began in this Hoskote. The founding Missionaries, Mr. M. T. Joseph and Rev. A.C. Zachariah chose Hoskote to be their vineyard, because they received immense support from the Mar Thoma Community in Bangalore under the leadership of Rev. M. G. Chandy (late Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Metropolitan).
The Missionary activities began with evangelization, seen steady growth and thus in 1965 Mission Hospital was started to give health care to poor and needy people. In order to take care of the marginalized, our pioneers then began Leprosy Mission and Shanthi Mandiram in subsequent years. Hoskote Mission entered into a new chapter with the beginning of Hoskote Mission Institute of Nursing in 1996 with GNM course. With God’s abundant grace and blessings Mission is entering to yet another chapter in the history of Hoskote Mission.
The B. Sc. Nursing programme was inaugurated on 16th of September by The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan. The meeting was presided by The Rt. Rev. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus Suffragan Metropolitan, the President of Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association. Mr. B. N. Bacche Gowda, the honourable Minister of Labour, Government of Karnataka was the Chief Guest. Mr. P. C. Mohan M. P., Mr. Anto Antony M. P., Rev. Dr. C. K. Mathew, Rev. M. O. Oommen and Rev. James M. Koshy Veeramala addressed the gathering.
The Nursing College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and approved by Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council. GNM programme also is approved by the KNC, INC and Govt. of Karnataka.
